Police charge male with drug trafficking offences, seize fentanyl

Lethbridge Police have charged a 29-year-old male with drug trafficking offences and seized more than 1,000 doses of fentanyl.

On September 1 at approximately 6:15 p.m., police responded to a report of individuals using drugs inside a vehicle parked along the 400 block of Highlands Boulevard. A man and woman inside the vehicle were arrested, and a second man was arrested when he returned to the vehicle.

During a search of the second male, police seized cocaine and cash. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 110 grams of fentanyl, equivalent to approximately 1,100 individual doses, nearly 30 grams of cocaine, 88 grams of methamphetamine, more than $1,000 in cash, bear spray and a collapsible baton. Police also recovered property believed to have been stolen from a westside business.

Levi Cyprian Harris, 29, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Harris was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today. 

The male and female initially arrested from inside the vehicle were released without charges.
