Police charge male with sexual assault, believe there may be additional victims

Lethbridge Police have charged a 35-year-old male in connection with two separate incidents of sexual assault.

On April 10, police responded to a report that a 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown male in a northside grocery store parking lot. The man approached the victim, told her she had a spider on her back, and then touched her back and buttocks inappropriately. He fled the area in a black 2025 Volkswagen Jetta.

On May 5, police received a similar report involving a 47-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted by an unknown male in a westside grocery store parking lot.

Through further investigation, police identified the suspect, who was arrested without incident on May 7.

Mackenzie Jackson Murray, 35, of Fort Macleod, is charged with two counts of sexual assault. He is currently in custody and is awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

As the investigation continues, police believe there may be additional victims. A photo of Murray is being released in an effort to encourage anyone who may have had a similar encounter to come forward. Anyone with information, or who believes they may be a victim, is asked to contact Lethbridge Police Service at 403‑328‑4444 and reference file number 26006625.
