Police charge male with sexual interference, sexual assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 30-year-old male with multiple child sexual offences following investigations involving two young girls.

On July 18, 2026, police responded to a report that a 12-year-old girl had disclosed to a friend that she had been sexually assaulted on several occasions by an adult male. During the investigation, the girl reported three incidents that occurred between June 2024 and May 2026.

During the course of the investigation, a second victim was identified in a separate matter. In that case, a 10-year-old girl reported that she had been sexually assaulted by the same male during the summer of 2025.

In both cases, the accused was a family friend who regularly spent time with the children.

Nicholas Tilbe, 30, of Lethbridge, is charged with four counts of sexual interference and one count of sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 22 in relation to the first investigation and September 8 in relation to the second.

Tilbe was released from custody with numerous conditions, including no contact with either victim or children under the age of 16. He is also prohibited from attending public pools, schools, school grounds, daycares, playgrounds, youth shelters, or libraries unless accompanied by an adult family member. In addition, he is prohibited from holding volunteer positions or employment that would place him in a position of trust or authority over anyone under the age of 16.
