Police continue to search for missing woman
A Lethbridge Police investigation into the disappearance of a 20-year-old woman who hasn’t been seen since the end of March, remains ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Araya Riemann was last seen March 25 at approximately 9 p.m. walking westbound along the Brewery Hill towards the coulees.
Riemann was reported missing on April 29 and after initial efforts to locate her were unsuccessful, members of the Criminal Investigation Division assumed the investigation.
Police have followed up on a number of tips, including information Riemann was seen in Cranbrook, Red Deer and Pincher Creek. These sightings were determined to be unfounded.
In mid-June, police conducted a ground search in the coulees and belongings identified as Riemann’s were found. A further search using a UAV and support from the Lethbridge and Area Search and Rescue Association, was subsequently conducted in the coulees west of the police station. Riemann was not located, but additional evidence that she had been in the area at some time was found.
To date, extensive investigation including interviews with Riemann’s family, friends, acquaintances, businesses and organization she frequented and reviews of CCTV footage, have yielded no information on her current whereabouts. While there is no evidence at this time to suggest foul play, there have been no confirmed footprints of life since Riemann was last seen on March 25.
Riemann is an at-risk person engaged in a high-risk lifestyle and struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues. She is described as a Caucasian female with brown hair and green eyes, approximately 5’2” tall with a thin build.
Anyone who has seen Riemann or has information on her whereabouts – no matter how insignificant it may seem – is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 26008012. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at www.p3tips.com or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
The investigation is ongoing.
