Police investigating shooting, seeking information/witnesses
Lethbridge Police are investigating a shooting at a westside home, and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
A single gunshot shot was fired May 10 at approximately 1:09 a.m. through the second-floor bedroom window of a home along Lafayette Boulevard West during a large house party. Numerous partygoers fled the scene prior to police arrival.
When officers entered the home, the recent discharge of bear spray was evident but no one with injuries was located.
Investigators have interviewed neighbours, numerous witnesses and obtained CCTV footage of the vehicles and subjects who left the scene, but believe there are additional individuals who may have information.
The investigation determined the property had been rented through Airbnb and, from May 5 until the firearm was discharged during the early morning hours of May 10, was being used to host nearly a week-long house party, including attendees from outside the city.
There was significant foot and vehicle traffic in the area between May 5 and May 10, and police are asking anyone with information about suspicious activity at any time during that period to come forward.
Evidence to date indicates the shot fired was an isolated incident related to the house party and those in attendance. As such, and as part of a broader investigative strategy which will not be disclosed, details of this incident were not immediately released.
Anyone with information about the shooting, house party or suspicious activity in the area of Lafayette Boulevard West between May 5 and 10, is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at www.p3tips.com or 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information leading to an arrest.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details or information will be released at this time.
