On June 9, at approximately 12:40 a.m., police responded to Chinook Regional Hospital after staff reported a male had attended the emergency room with stab wounds. The male was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation determined two 17-year-old males were riding scooters downtown when they were confronted by a group of people at the intersection of 7 Street and 1 Avenue South. A verbal altercation escalated to a physical confrontation and one 17-year-old male was stabbed by an unknown male in the group. The victim and his friend returned to their vehicle parked nearby and drove to the hospital. The subjects left the area on foot, walking toward Galt Gardens.

The victim and subjects are not known to one another.
