Police investigating threats at local schools
Lethbridge Police are investigating reports of threats at local schools.
On Thursday, October 8, police received multiple reports of a threatening message that had been sent to students by text/social media. Out of an abundance of caution, LCI and all adjacent schools were placed into lockdown, which was lifted after approximately one hour.
Earlier this morning, police were made aware of speculation circulating online that another threatening incident could be occurring today, October 9. While classes proceeded as usual, an increased police presence was deployed to the area as a precautionary measure. Police remained on scene until it was confirmed that there was no threat.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the veracity of the threat and who is responsible. At this time there is no evidence to suggest an imminent or ongoing risk to students or staff.
No further information will be released.
