Police respond to weapons complaint near schools and determine there was no threat
Lethbridge Police responded to a weapons complaint near a number of Lethbridge schools today and determined that there was no threat to the schools or the public.
At approximately 9:40 a.m. this morning, Lethbridge Police Service received a call regarding a weapons complaint outside of Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and Catholic Central High Schools. Out of an abundance of caution, the schools in the area were advised to lock their doors to the public.
The police attended, placing four subjects into custody and determining that the “weapon” was in fact a toy/replica gun. At no time was the toy gun used to threaten any person or any of the nearby schools.
As there was no longer a potential threat, the schools in the area were advised and their respective lockdowns lifted.
At this time, the matter is still under investigation.
