Police seeking witnesses in weekend assault
Lethbridge Police are seeking witnesses following an assault that occurred across from a downtown nightclub.
On Oct. 31 just before midnight, police responded to multiple reports of a fight in the 1200 block of 1 Avenue South, across from Pulse Nightclub. A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation determined the incident was preceded by a dispute over a cellphone and escalated into a physical altercation between the victim and an unknown male. During the confrontation, approximately three to five additional males joined in assaulting the victim. The group fled on foot prior to police arrival.
The male subjects are described as being of East Indian descent. No further descriptions are available.
Investigators believe there were approximately 100 people lined up outside the nightclub when the assault occurred and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, but has not yet spoken with police, to come forward.
