Police seeking witnesses, video in hit and run where dog was killed (2)

Lethbridge Police are asking witnesses or anyone who may have video of a hit and run collision Sunday afternoon where a woman and her dog were struck by a vehicle, to come forward.

On March 24, at approximately 1:16 p.m., police responded to a report that a woman and her dog had been struck by a vehicle in the area of 20 Avenue and Palm Rd S and the dog had been killed. The 33-year-old reported her Yorkie Terrier had gotten away from her and both were struck on 20 Avenue by a dark coloured vehicle that failed to stop. The woman was knocked to the ground but did not sustain injuries and no medical treatment was required.

Police canvassed the area for video surveillance and witnesses, but their efforts did not yield any results.

Members of Victim/Witnesses Services responded and provided the victim with assistance making arrangements for her dog to be transported to a local pet crematorium.

Anyone who was in the area of 20 Avenue and Palm Road South on Sunday, March 24 between 1 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., and may have witnessed the incident, or has home security video or dashcam footage, is asked to call 403-328-4444 and reference file 24005270.

The suspect vehicle is described only as a dark coloured SUV or truck, possibly with tinted windows. No description of the driver could be provided.
