Shoes For Kids YQL Announces 6th Annual Shoe Drive and Community BBQ
Shoes for Kids YQL Foundation is proud to announce that its 6th Annual Shoe Drive will be taking place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Murray Chevrolet Cadillac Lethbridge (2815 26 Avenue South, Lethbridge).
The event will once again bring together community members, local businesses, first responders, and volunteers in support of ensuring every child starts the school year with a brand-new pair of shoes.
This year's event will also feature a Community BBQ from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for families to come together, connect with local organizations, and support an important community initiative.
Every dollar raised and every pair of new shoes donated will go directly to Shoes for Kids YQL, helping children and youth throughout Lethbridge, Southwest Alberta, and surrounding Indigenous communities receive new footwear before returning to school.
For six years, the annual Shoe Drive has demonstrated the incredible generosity of our community. Through donations and partnerships, Shoes for Kids YQL continues its mission of removing financial barriers and ensuring children can return to school with confidence, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive.
Community members are encouraged to attend the event, donate new shoes, make a financial contribution, or simply join us for the Community BBQ in support of local children.
Together, we can help ensure that every child steps into the new school year with confidence.
About Shoes For Kids YQL:
Founded in 2021, the Shoes For Kids YQL Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves Lethbridge, southwest Alberta, and surrounding Indigenous communities. The foundation is dedicated to helping children and youth facing poverty or socio-economic barriers by providing new, properly fitting footwear.
Mission Statement:
Shoes For Kids YQL believes every child deserves to go back to school with a brand-new pair of runners. New shoes give children dignity and joy—preparing them to learn, play, and thrive.
Over the past five years, the program has shown that something as simple as a new pair of shoes can lead to improved attendance, confidence, behaviour, and physical activity.
