Charges laid following high-risk incident

Lethbridge Police have charged a 26-year-old female in connection with an incident Wednesday that resulted in the deployment of the Tactical Team.

On September 10, police responded to a report that a female armed with a knife was attempting to gain entry to a unit in a suited residence along the 100 block of Mt Sundial Court and had broken the glass in a door. The female, who is an occupant of the other unit, then barricaded herself inside her home and did not respond to police demands to exit. Neighbours were directed to shelter in place and the Tactical Team was deployed as a precaution. After several hours, the woman surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.

Katie Jane Scory, 26, of Lethbridge is charged with attempted housebreaking, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public and resisting a peace officer.

She has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court October 21.
