Charges pending after multiple pedestrians injured; police seeking witnesses, dash cam footage
Lethbridge Police arrested a 47-year-old Calgary man in connection with an incident where multiple pedestrians were injured after being struck by a vehicle in a southside parking lot.
On October 10 at approximately 6:30 p.m., police and EMS responded to numerous 911 calls reporting that a vehicle had struck multiple pedestrians and narrowly missed several more in the parking lot of the Visitlethbridge.com Arena (formerly the Enmax Centre) along the 2500 block of Scenic Drive South. The driver fled the area prior to police arrival.
A 77-year-old female, 77-year-old male and 46-year-old male, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital in stable condition.
The same vehicle then struck a Subaru Outback in the area of Mayor Magrath Drive and Scenic Drive South but did not stop.
A short time later police located the vehicle along Riverbottom Road North near Softball Valley where the driver was arrested without incident.
There is no evidence to suggest the driver was impaired. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
The subject vehicle is described as a black, 2022 Mazda CX5. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident in the Visitlethbridge.com Arena parking lot, or the hit and run collision along Mayor Magrath Drive and Scenic Drive South, to come forward.
