Drivers reminded to slow down in construction zones

Lethbridge Police are reminding drivers to slow down in construction zones after issuing nearly 50 speeding tickets on Whoop-Up Drive in a matter of hours.

Earlier today, members of the Traffic Response Unit were conducting a targeted enforcement initiative in the construction zone along Whoop Up Drive and stopped dozens of motorists for speeding between 20 and 30 km/h over the limit – with one driver clocked at over 45 km/h over as crews worked just feet away.

With the summer road construction season in full swing throughout the city, drivers are reminded to slow down and drive cautiously. In Alberta, speed fines are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.
