Male charged in numerous downtown mischiefs

Lethbridge Police have charged a 38-year-old male with mischief after numerous windows were broken downtown.

Members of the Downtown Policing Unit reviewed more than two dozen incidents between October 21 and November 21 where windows were smashed in the downtown core. A person of interest was identified and following further investigation, the subject was charged in connection with nine of the incidents. Damages totaled approximately $31,000.  In the remaining cases, there was insufficient evidence to support charges.

The male subject was located and arrested in late November.

Andy Troy Spear Chief, 38, of Lethbridge, is charged with nine counts of mischief. Spear Chief was released from custody with conditions, including a prohibition from attending downtown, and is scheduled to appear in court January 21, 2026.
