Man and woman charged as police seize over 3700 doses of street drugs, including fentanyl molded into a green ‘gummy-bear’ shape
Lethbridge Police charged one male and one female with drug trafficking offenses last week after seizing over 3700 doses of street drugs, including a new variety of light-green fentanyl molded into a ‘gummy-bear’ shape.
On July 9, 2025 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Downtown Policing Unit observed and arrested a male and female wanted for outstanding warrants in the 900 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South. Upon arrest, the male was found to be in possession of approximately 84 grams (three ounces) of cocaine, smaller quantities of controlled substances associated with street-level trafficking in the downtown core, and $7,030 in cash. He was also riding a stolen electric bicycle.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at their residence leading to the discovery of 51 light-green fentanyl ‘gummy-bears,’ as well as mixing bowls, gummy-bear molds, and detailed instructions for preparing the mixture. Officers also seized bulk amounts of other controlled substances, trafficking paraphernalia such as baggies, operational digital scales, score sheets, and a cell phone actively receiving calls from individuals seeking to purchase drugs.
Between the two locations, officers seized 3753 street doses of cocaine (128 doses), ketamine (363 doses), fentanyl (2127 doses) and methamphetamine (1135 doses), as well as an additional $7,400 in cash proceeds of crime, totalling a combined value of over $84,000.
Gregory Johnston, 61, of Lethbridge, is charged with production of controlled substance (fentanyl), four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5000, possession of stolen property, and three counts of breach of release order. Johnston is remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 17.
Deborah Bolender, 51, of Lethbridge, is charged with production of controlled substance (fentanyl), four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5000. Bolender is remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 17.
