No charges laid in fatal motorcycle collision (25-08-15)

The investigation into a fatal motorcycle collision that claimed the life of a 62-year-old man has been concluded without charges.

On July 8, 2025, at 4:52 p.m., police and EMS responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a truck at the intersection of 30 Street North and Crowsnest Trail/Highway 3. The male operator of the motorcycle was seriously injured and transported to Chinook Regional Hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigation by members of the Traffic Response Unit determined the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Crowsnest Trail/Highway 3 when it ran a red light and collided with a truck making a left turn northbound onto 30 Street North. Police believe speed was a factor and witnesses also reported that the motorcycle operator engaged in a dangerous maneuver to overtake another vehicle before proceeding through the intersection.

Police are reminding all motorists to obey the rules of the road, pay attention and drive safely and defensively. Over the past two years, in Lethbridge, there have been seven fatal collisions – four involving motorcycle operators, one pedestrian and two vehicle occupants (one driver and one passenger).

No further information will be released.
