Police charge female with aggravated assault
Lethbridge Police have charged a 37-year-old female with aggravated assault in connection with an incident where a woman sustained significant facial injuries.
On August 10, just before 9 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault. Investigation determined a 32-year-old woman and a group of acquaintances had been socializing in the 500 block of Stafford Drive South when a verbal altercation ensued. The argument escalated to a physical confrontation that resulted in a female striking the victim in the face with a hatchet causing significant injuries. The victim attended a nearby business for assistance and EMS subsequently transported her to hospital.
Police located the subject a short time later and she was arrested without incident.
Tara Many Shots, 37, of Lethbridge, is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Many Shots was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today.
