Police charge female with drug trafficking offences

Lethbridge Police have charged a female in connection with drug trafficking offences targeting members of the vulnerable population. 

In mid-March, members of the Downtown Policing Unit, with support from the Crime Suppression Team and SCAN, initiated a short term investigation. Police observed a female subject repeatedly interacting with members of the unhoused population, including activity consistent with drug trafficking. In addition, police observed further drug trafficking activity occurring at a residence  along the 1800 block of 1 A Avenue North.

On March 25, police executed a search warrant at the property and located significant quantities of drug paraphernalia. One female and one male were arrested away from the residence during a drug transaction in progress. During a search of the subjects incidental to arrest, police seized approximately eight grams of fentanyl, 19 grams of methamphetamine and just under $1000 in cash proceeds of crime. 

Andrea Rachel Weasel Fat, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with release order conditions. Weasel Fat is remanded in custody and her next court appearance is April 2.

Dwayne Cecil D J Bastien, 29, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of failing to comply with release orders. Bastien plead guilty during his first court appearance was was sentenced to 15 days in custody.
