Police charge male with additional counts of sexual assault after more victims come forward

A 37-year-old Lethbridge man, previously charged with sexual assault, is facing more charges after additional victims were identified following a police news release issued last month.

The investigation began in May 2025, when police were alerted to a social media post alleging that multiple women had been sexually assaulted by the same male. The post was made by a third party – not one of the alleged victims. Police were subsequently connected with a 35-year-old female who reported she attended the home of a male acquaintance to socialize, and after accepting a drink from him, became unwell and was sexually assaulted. The incident occurred in April 2019 and was not previously reported.

As part of the ongoing investigation police received information there were additional victims and a news release, that included the male’s photo and a plea for unidentified victims to come forward, was issued in June.

Since then, three additional victims have been identified and following further investigation, the male has been charged in connection with incidents that occurred between 2009 and 2022.

Landon Byron Kern Waters, 37, of Lethbridge is charged with three counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and two count of administering a drug to overcome resistance. These new charges are in addition to the initial count of sexual assault laid in June.

Waters has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court August 26.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information, or has been victimized, is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 25052933.
