Police charge male with historic sexual assault
Lethbridge Police have charged a 36-year-old male in connection with an historic sexual assault and believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
In early May, police were alerted to a social media post alleging that multiple women had been sexually assaulted by the same male. An investigation was subsequently initiated.
The post was made by a third party – not one of the alleged victims. Based on the information that’s been provided, police have interviewed one victim and are working to locate several other women. Police also believe there may be additional, unidentified victims.
A 35-year-old female reported she attended the home of a male acquaintance to socialize, and after accepting a drink from him, became unwell and was sexually assaulted. The incident occurred in April 2019 and was not previously reported.
Landon Byron Kern Waters, 36, of Lethbridge, is charged with sexual assault. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing he was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 18.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a photo of Waters is being released to encourage any additional victims to come forward. Anyone with information that may assist investigators, is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 25052933.
