Police charge male with sexual assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 27-year-old male in connection with an incident where a female ride-share client was sexually assaulted by her driver.

On November 9, 2025, police responded to a report of a sexual assault after a 20-year-old female attended Chinook Regional Hospital. The victim reported she had arranged a ride home during the early morning hours using the UberX app. She was picked up at a southside business, driven to a downtown business where a brief stop was made, then taken to a secluded location in the river valley and sexually assaulted before being driven home.

Following further investigation, police confirmed the identity of the driver and determined the trip to the river valley and the victim’s home had not been logged in the app. When officers attended the male’s home to arrest him, they learned he had left the country. His vehicle was subsequently seized and a warrant issued for his arrest.

On December 27, the male returned to Canada and was detained by Canada Border Services Agency at the Vancouver airport. He was later transported back to Alberta.

Manvir Singh, 27, of Lethbridge, is charged with sexual assault.

Following a bail hearing on January 5, Singh was released from custody with a number of conditions including no contact with the victim, the surrender of his passport and a prohibition from leaving the jurisdiction of Alberta. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 9.
