Police charge three people in connection with an incident involving robbery, assault, unlawful confinement

Lethbridge Police have charged three people in connection to the robbery, assault and unlawful confinement of a 21-year-old man. 

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., police responded to reports of an active robbery and assault in the 1000 block of 13 Street South. Police attended the residence and apprehended three males and one female.

Investigation revealed the suspects had broken into the victim’s home the previous day. The three males threatened, assaulted, robbed and confined the victim, warning him not to contact police. The group is believed to have left the residence at some point that night and returned the following day to further confront the victim. 

The incident was targeted between known parties and was motivated by a dispute over property. 

Mackaden Bodnar, 18, of Lethbridge, is charged with with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, and uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Bodnar was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court May 21. 

Jeffery Osmond, 42, of Lethbridge, is charged with with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm, and mischief. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Osmond was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on June 18.  

Another 17-year-old male, of Lethbridge, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of assault with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm, and mischief. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was also released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on May 28.  

The fourth female subject was released without charges after investigation revealed she was present, but not directly involved in the incident.
