Police charge woman with drug trafficking offences

Lethbridge Police have charged a 39-year-old female with drug trafficking offences and seized fentanyl, methamphetamine and weapons from a downtown encampment.

On January 1, members of the Downtown Policing Unit observed a female known to have outstanding warrants at an encampment along the 200 block of 7 Street North.  When officers approached her tent, drug paraphernalia was observed outside. Upon announcing their arrival, the tent was opened and police observed the female inside along with further drug paraphernalia, including a used drug pipe. She was subsequently arrested on her outstanding warrants. A search of the tent incidental to arrest, resulted in the seizure of approximately 340 doses of fentanyl, 370 doses of methamphetamine, numerous pills, crack cocaine, drug packaging, scales and other paraphernalia, along with more than $7,700 in cash. A number of weapons were also seized, including a hatchet, knife and two machetes.

Based on the evidence obtained, police believe the subject was engaged in selling drugs to the at-risk population downtown.

Andrea Rachel Weasel Fat, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with an undertaking. Weasel Fat is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
