Police target drivers for stunting, speeding, noise and other violations
Lethbridge Police issued 69 traffic tickets for stunting, speeding, excessive exhaust noise, distracted driving and various equipment violations as part of an enforcement project targeting high-risk and nuisance driving.
In addition, two Immediate Roadside Sanction Cautions were issued and a number of drivers were warned for their behaviours during the one-night blitz over the weekend.
The targeted enforcement operation, consisting of a series of project days throughout the year, was first initiated in 2022 and has continued since then in an effort to actively apprehend and charge motorists engaging in risky and nuisance behaviours. This initiative is over and above traffic enforcement that is conducted daily by members of the Traffic Response Unit and Patrols.
The public can help by continuing to report violations and chronic, high-risk driving behaviour whenever and wherever it is observed. Call 403-328-4444. Public complaints and analysis of traffic data, help guide police deployment and ongoing enforcement efforts.
