Police urge motorists to consider winter road conditions before travelling

With increasingly icy conditions forming this evening, the Lethbridge Police are urging all motorists to avoid travelling if possible.

If travel is still required, motorists are advised to take all necessary precautions:

  • Clear your vehicles of ice and snow.
  • Make sure your headlights are turned on.
  • Slow down—reduce your speed and increase the distance between vehicles.
  • Brake and steer gently—sudden moves can cause skids.
  • Stay alert—scan ahead for potential hazards.
  • Plan ahead—leave extra time to reach your destination.

As an additional measure, police are asking the public to be aware of emergency vehicles still working this evening – ensure that speeds are reduced when passing and that there is sufficient space for them work safely.

Police thank the community in advance for doing their part to keep our roadways safe.
