Two people charged, drugs seized following routine traffic stop
Lethbridge Police have charged a male and female with drug offences and seized fentanyl and methamphetamine following an early morning traffic stop.
On April 7, just after 3 a.m., police were in the area of the 3500 block of 2 Avenue South on an unrelated matter, when an officer observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations. A traffic stop was initiated, and a query of the license plate determined it did not match the vehicle. The male driver was found to have a Canada-wide driving prohibition and the female occupant was wanted on an outstanding warrant. During a search incidental to arrest, police seized 200 doses of fentanyl, 620 doses of methamphetamine, more than 130 narcotic pills, nearly $1,000 cash proceeds of crime and recovered a stolen e-bike (owner identified).
Adam Richard Filipcic, 35, of Claresholm, is charged with operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, trafficking in stolen property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and issued tickets for seven traffic violations. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Filipcic was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 17.
Kerry Lynn Grebely, 34, of Brocket, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, failing to comply with release order conditions and obstructing a peace officer (for providing a false name). Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Grebely was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court May 1.
