Two youth charged after police respond to weapons threat at local movie theatre
Lethbridge police have charged one 16-year-old male and one 15-year-old female after responding to reports of a weapons threat at a local theatre.
On September 13, 2025, at approximately 9:15 pm, police received a call that an unknown male and female had chased and threatened a group of teenaged girls with a gun while in the lobby of the movie theatre along the 500 block of 1 Avenue South. Upon arrival, police locked down and searched the theatre, locating the subjects as well as a can of bear spray and a satchel containing a glock style handgun that was confirmed to be a BB gun.
The 16-year-old male, who cannot be identified under provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with disguised with intent, pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause death and bodily harm, assault with a weapon, two counts of carry concealed weapon, and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public. He was remanded into custody and is awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
The 15-year-old female, who cannot be identified under provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with being party to assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. She was released on an undertaking with numerous conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on October 22, 2025.
