Westside residential fire under investigation; police seeking video surveillance footage
Lethbridge Police and Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services are investigating a residential fire during the early morning hours that destroyed two westside homes.
Just after 2:30 a.m., police and fire responded to a 911 call reporting a house fire along Kensington Road West in Garry Station. Upon arrival, crews located heavy smoke and two homes engulfed in flames. Multiple occupants of the homes escaped safely and police assisted in evacuating neighbouring properties as a precaution. No injuries were reported. Firefighters extinguished the flames but both homes were destroyed.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and police are asking anyone in the area with residential security cameras to review their footage between 2 and 3 a.m. for any persons or activity in the area. In addition, anyone who was walking or driving in the neighbourhood and observed any activity is asked to come forward. Call 403-328-4444 and reference file 26003144.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released.
