Youth charged after shooting at vehicle occupants with airsoft gun, causing damage

Lethbridge Police have charged a 17-year-old male after he shot directly at the occupants of several vehicles using an airsoft gun resembling a Glock pistol, resulting in vehicle dents and shattered windshields.

On May 17, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police received several calls reporting that a young male in a red hoodie was shooting directly at the occupants of vehicles along McMaster Boulevard West and Temple Boulevard West.  Police attended the area of Columbia Boulevard West and Laval Boulevard West and observed the young male suspect flee from a business, leaving a bag in the custody of another youth. The bag contained a black airsoft gun that resembled a Glock pistol with the magazine still inside the chamber, as well as two additional containers of BBs/pellets. Patrols apprehended the male suspect a short distance away.

The 17-year-old male, of Lethbridge, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of mischief under $5000, damage to property, carry concealed weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, failing to comply with sentence (Youth Criminal Justice Act), and using an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence. 

The male was remanded in custody and is scheduled to attend youth court on May 21, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
