Crime Mapping

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) Open Data site provides access to policing activity data such as crime statistics, traffic infractions and other related trends occurring in Lethbridge. This information is shared to increase transparency, facilitate community engagement and support the safety of our citizens and our city.

When using LPS Open Data, the following should be considered:

  • The maps display up to 365 days of select occurrence types and only occurrences with a known location are displayed
  • To anonymize the location of the incident, the point on the map is relocated to the nearest intersection and should be considered approximate
  • To protect privacy, no personal or identifying information is included in the data
  • Data is refreshed every 24 hours
  • All dates and times are reflective of their reported date and time, not when the actual event took place
  • Reported occurrences had to have taken place within Lethbridge and be reported to LPS
  • Occurrences on provincial roads that are outside LPS jurisdiction are reported to RCMP and will not appear on the maps
  • Occurrences in a neighbourhood can be both criminal and non-criminal. Not all police activity is in response to crime. Regardless of where you live, the potential for police activity exists
  • All data is subject to change without notice

LPS cautions against using the data provided to make decisions or draw conclusions about the safety of a particular area, including the relative safety of various areas for which information is provided.

The Lethbridge Police Service is making the information and open data available to the user solely to provide an overview of LPS’ policing activity.
