Lethbridge woman charged with defrauding employer

Lethbridge Police have charged a 40-year-old woman in connection with an internal theft from the County of Lethbridge.

In May 2019 the County of Lethbridge became aware of a theft and fraud by one of their employees and called police. An investigation by members of the Economic Crimes Unit was initiated and determined that a total of approximately $49,000 – some of the money from tax payments –  had been stolen from the County office between 2016 and 2019. A female employee was subsequently charged.

Police investigating armed robbery

Lethbridge Police are investigating an armed robbery at a northside lounge.

On July 28, 2019 at approximately 11:50 p.m. a masked male entered the Flamingo along the 1700 block of 23 Street North. The male approached the bar, brandished a knife and demanded cash. An undisclosed amount was provided and the male fled on foot northbound along 23 St N. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.

Police seeking rightful owners of stolen jewelry

Lethbridge Police are hoping to return several valuable pieces of jewelry to their rightful owners.

The items – three rings, a gold necklace and gold charm bracelet – are believed to have been stolen during break and enters between 2005 and 2007.

Proof of ownership will be required in order to claim the jewelry.

Anyone who recognizes an item is asked to contact the LPS Property and Exhibits Unit at 403-330-5017 or 403-330-5009 or attend the police station.
