More than 4,000 doses of fentanyl taken off the street
Lethbridge Police have seized more than 4,000 doses of fentanyl – worth approximately $80,000 – after arresting a male who was found sleeping at the scene of a break and enter.
On May 11, just before midnight, police were conducting proactive patrols along the 100 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North when an officer observed an unsecure wash bay door and a male laying underneath it. Upon waking the male he provided a false name to police, resisted arrest and then attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended a short distance away.
During a search incidental to arrest, police seized just over 400 grams of fentanyl (about 4,000 individual doses), nearly 600 grams of cannabis, 41 grams of cannabis seeds, a small quantity of cash proceeds of a crime and a conducted energy weapon.
Jade Levi Trotter, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of unlawful distribution, intention to possess, produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, break and enter, obstructing a peace officer resisting a peace officer, assaulting a peace office, possession of a prohibited weapon and trafficking in property or proceeds of crime.
Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Trotter was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court May 13.
